Upcoming Trends for the New Season

I think in this point in my life I don’t believe in New Year, New You. But I do think New Year, New Wardrobe is the way forward. Quoting one of my favourite book characters; Because when I shop, the world gets better. Obviously Rebecca Bloomwood from Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series. So what trends can we expect for the upcoming fashion season?!

The Trench Coat

We all know the trench coat never goes out of style it just gets revamped each season. It’s a classic wardrobe piece which has the ability to stay on top, and in our wardrobes, amongst all the other trends. Keep an eye out for various silhouettes from the sleek and free-flowing to the more structured. Different fabrications and detailing such as embroidery and sheer panelling give these trench coats a modern edge too.

Sheer Goals

Brave and daring, this trend isn’t for the faint hearted. Exposing nearly every inch of your body might not be for you but there are obviously more subtle ways to wear this style. Go as sheer as you feel comfortable. Blouses, dresses and even outerwear have all gone a bit see-through so get ready to flash your underwear.

Plastic Fantastic

I felt like vinyl was the eccentric fabric during autumn/winter but for next season plastic will be fighting for attention. This futuristic style might not be to everyone’s taste but a plastic mac wouldn’t be hard to introduce into your wardrobe.

Texture Perfection

Texture is a fabulously creative way to add depth and interest to a look and spring/summer won’t disappoint when it comes to this trend. Everything from feathers to fringing and embellishment to sequins, it’s a style to have fun with.
