Opening London Fashion Week was Irish designer Paul Costelloe’s Spring/Summer 2012 catwalk show at Somerset House in London – a great way to start the weekend!
His menswear collection for SS12 was full of structured tailoring in rich fabrics. Versatile, soft neutral shades of grey, beige and white are contrasted with crayon brights with highlights and lowlights in black and white.
The pieces are given a romantic edge with the use of linen which pairs perfectly against the Edwardian structure in the tailoring. Silhouettes aren’t so constricted but are given a subtler edge which makes a rather nice change!
Trousers are in slim and clean lines or large, full and soft shapes which means that the looks are constructed yet never rigid. It gives the collection a laid back feel that is fused with a sophisticated edge. Bravo Paul Costelloe!
