Festival Fashion for Men – what to wear this Summer!

Festival season has once again graced the UK with its presence bringing with it a multitude of fashionable pieces for festival-goers to sport – whether its sunny or heavy downpours! This time of year I normally write about women’s festival must-haves but I thought it would make a rather nice change to feature a piece for all you guys out there.

I admit, festivals aren’t really my thing – been there done that! I couldn’t really handle the long line of portaloos and walking miles to see one of my favourite bands. I pretty much had a meltdown by the end of the weekend! But the whole fashion side of festivals has always fascinated me and is always a big part of the whole experience.

If up and coming festivals will be anything like the Isle of Wight festival, which recently took place, you’ll need a good pair of wellies to wade through the thick mud and water which is the result of all this ghastly rain we’ve experienced lately. Waterproof styles are a must and will be an ideal investment for festivals and daily outings – you’ll be glad you packed them! For a more summery footwear alternative a pair of espadrilles, plimsolls flip flops will provide comfort and style.

A trusty jacket or poncho is also a must-have for any festival as you’ll probably experience a range of weather situations such as rain, wind and heat waves so it’s best to be prepared. Over the years these styles have definitely become more stylish and should not be feared lads! A lightweight water-resistant design is the perfect choice to protect yourself against those annoying unexpected downpours. Waxed jackets are also exceptionally trendy and will shield you from the elements. ASOS.com has a great range of designs that are ideal for festival-goers as they can be folded and stored in a handy bag – a definite space saver when packing!

Shorts are ideal for those hot sunshine filled days so it’s best to take a good selection with you. Plain coloured cotton styles will allow you to wear them with funky patterned or vibrant shade t-shirts and vests. Denim shorts always come in useful too as they are quite durable – an aspect which you need for an event like a festival.

Accessorising your outfits is super easy too. You don’t want to look ‘too put together’ but instead want to have an air of ‘laid back casual’ with a stylish edge. This can be achieved with woven leather bracelets, beaded necklaces and some sort of bandana or a trilby hat teamed with a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. Throw in a couple of vintage pieces too into your looks if you want to be truly fashion savvy!

At the end of the day it’s up to you whether you want to take pricey items with you to your festival of choice this year. There are risks of things being either lost, stolen or completely ruined so if you can handle your high brand garments being unusable by the end of the weekend then go for it! Otherwise there are plenty of good quality yet affordable pieces out there that will do just as good a job!
