Iconic British luxury brand Burberry Prorsum’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection, named Town and Field, is full of classic styling with an English countryside edge whilst a hint of romance can be seen throughout the garments to bring us Brits wearable must-have pieces.
Layering is key throughout the range with garments exuding femininity with the help of beautiful folding in the fabrics and cinched in waists. These aspects produce the most flattering shapes for women with all the pieces flowing beautifully together. Other silhouettes featured in the collection include sculptural dress shirts, shoulder bow dresses and tiered fringed dresses.
Burberry is known for their amazingly stylish jackets and coats and it is too hard to pick a favourite from this collection! Statement detailing is seen on the garments such as fur collars and big pockets whilst skirted panelled trench jackets provide interesting shapes. I love the cropped tailored bomber styles too – incredibly chic and versatile!
British countryside animal print and cute slouchy t-shirts are dressed up when teamed with flared riding, draped hem blanket, bellow pocket pencil and tiered peplum skirts to create stunning outfits. The looks are finished off with some of Burberry’s iconic jacket and coat styles then waists are cinched in with ruched or tubular waist belts which add a lovely touch to these fall outfits.
Detailing throughout the collection is what gives the garments that extra style factor which fits in perfectly with the AW12 trends. Mixed fabrication panels, velvet trims, equestrian quilting and corduroy collars all evoke classic British style. Fabrics play a big part too and really adds luxuriousness to the pieces. Traditional British tweed wool, striped silk gauze, weatherproof waxed cotton and plush velvet is what makes Burberry’s collections so iconic.
Lady-like accessories such as the cuff length gloves and bow detailed belts add a lovely touch to the fall looks. Suede and brogue lace-up ankle boots and moccasin-inspired ankle boots give outfits a timeless feel and are super versatile for the colder months ahead. Bag lovers will fall head over heels for the Burberry Orchard and Barrel styles whilst the small ornamental animal-detail zipped clutch bags are ideal for evening functions.
Neutral shades of honey, dark camel, white, heather grey and black allows the pieces in the range to work well together whereas splashes of colour like burgundy, yellow, dark mauve-pink and granite blue makes certain prints and detailing stand out. I love the use of the rich tones deep teal and purple too which ooze luxuriousness and glamour. It is amazing how they have been worked into the pieces!
Looking at the collection you can see why it is called Town and Field – it’s the perfect balance between British luxury and countryside flare. A fashionista dream come true! Now I just need to make some room for it all in my wardrobe…
